GUJRAT: The administration of the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) has launched online outdoor patients department (OPD) services in the hospital to ensure social distancing of patients and doctors.

Medical Superintendent Dr Abid Ghauri said that a patient would be asked to sit in a dedicated room from where he would be connected with the doctor concerned through online video link . Sitting in another dedicated room, the doctor would suggest medicine after complete diagnosis.

“The facility has been initiated to protect patients and medics from the Covid-19,” the MS said.

Meanwhile, a plasma donor bank is being established in the ABSTH for which electro plasma separator will be arranged in the wake of rising number of Covid-19 patients across the district.

All the wards of ABSTH as well as the field hospital established in Sports Gymnasium will also be provided with oxygen facility linked with central oxygen mechanism of the hospital.

Currently, around 240 beds in the ABSTH are linked with central oxygen system but now all the wards of the hospital are being extended this facility.

Gujrat Deputy Commissioner Dr Khurram Shahzad chaired a meeting of District Health Authority with Chief Executive Officer (health) Dr Zahid Tanveer and MS Dr Abid Ghauri and others on Tuesday.

He said that in the view of increase in the Covid-19 patients in the district almost all the health facilities should be enhanced.

SEALED: The local authorities have sealed at least eight shops in different markets on charges of violating the standard operating procedures (SOPs) issued by the government as safety precautions from the Covid-19.

Gujrat Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Jameel along with police examined various local markets and found these eight shop owners and staff ommitting violations of the SOPs. The shops were imposed fines as well.

Meanwhile the AC has also issued warning to a factory owners for not taking care of the protocols of operating pandemic.

Kharian Assistant Commissioner Faisal Mangat and Sara-i-Alamgir AC Fahad Ijaz also checked the implementation of the SOPs and issued warnings to at least 14 shopkeepers.
