Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab says the Sindh government wanted to impose an effective lockdown to curb the spread of the coronavirus but it could not go against the "ground reality" that was the Supreme Court decision regarding the pandemic response.

When asked by TV host Shahzeb Khanzada to explain, Wahab said: "If you read [the SC] decisions, you will understand that the court said the provinces HAVE to follow the lead and advice of the Centre. We never stood a chance [after that]."

"It was an unfortunate development," he said of the SC suo motu notice. "The court should not have intervened in this matter."
