Sindh Transport Minister Syed Awais Shah has announced that intra-city public transport and online ride-hailing services will resume from tomorrow with "strict" standard operating procedures (SOPs).
According to the SOPs:
- No extra passengers will be allowed to board
- Masks and sanitisers will be made compulsory
- Buses will run from designated stations
- Only two people will be allowed to sit in a ride-hailing services' vehicle, three in case of emergency
- Online bus services will be allowed to resume on a seat by seat basis
- Transporters who have air conditioning in their vehicles will only allow one passenger on one seat
The minister said that a committee has been formed to monitor and inspect whether the SOPs are being followed. He warned that if SOPs are not followed and coronavirus cases increase, the permissions will be revoked.
