NDMA Chairman Lt Gen Mohammad Afzal has clarified that the personal protective equipment (PPE) sent to the United States from Pakistan was donated by the Pakistan Air Force and the armed forces, and not the government or NDMA.
Responding to a question at a presser, he said a PAF plane was to bring some replacement parts for airplanes from the US and instead of sending the plane empty, it was decided to dispatch the PPE in it. The donated protective gear was all made in Pakistan, Afzal added.
He said it was a goodwill gesture by the PAF in response to the US government's donation of 200 ventilators worth $4 million to Pakistan.
