Transgender rights activist urges govt to provide relief to community

Transgender rights activist Nayab Ali has said that the not a single person from the community has received cash assistance under the government's Ehsaas programme.

Speaking to Dawn News, she said: "The transgender community is facing extreme difficulty during this time. The government has not provided the community with any employment opportunity or relief package."

All of our sources of income have been cut off due to the coronavirus outbreak, she said, urging the government to provide the community with some relief during this time of crisis.
