Punjab's transporters have said that services will not resume from tomorrow (Monday) until the government issues new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for curbing the spread of the coronavirus.

Addressing a press conference, Asmatullah Niazi, Public and Goods Transport Alliance’s chairman, said: "There is a difference in the SOPs we were told and the ones that we have been given.

"If we reduce our fares by 20 per cent and cut our passengers by half, how will we manage?" He urged the government to provide relief to the sector and renegotiate the SOPs, adding that fares at toll plazas should also be reduced by 50pc.
