ISLAMABAD, Sept 7: The Inspector-General of Punjab Police, Ziaul Hassan, has suspended three deputy superintendents of police and six station house officers for keeping people in illegal custody. According to a press release, the IGP took the action on the recommendations of the inspection and vigilance teams.
A show-cause notice was also issued to an assistant superintendent Chiniot police.
The inspection and vigilance teams had submitted their reports to the IGP after visiting various police stations in Jhang, Okara, Bhawalpur, Bhawalnagar and Lodhran.
During the visits, the teams carried out surprise visits to police stations and compiled a report about irregularities.
Those who have been suspended included DSP Investigation, Bhawalpur, Shaikah Zubair; DSP Jhang Mohammad Mumtaz, SDPO Shahid Farooq, SHO Hakim Ali and Sub-Inspector Amir Hussain of police station Saddar, Bhawalpur; SHO Ali Akber and Inspector Niaz Ali of Chistian police, Bhawalnagar, SHO Asad Muzaffar of Hajra Shah Muqeem and SHO Ashraf Niazi of Lodhran.
