Youm-i-Ali procession taken out in Quetta despite ban

Hundreds of people are taking part in a Youm-i-Ali procession being taken out in Quetta despite a ban on religious processions.

The procession started on Friday evening from Imambargh Syedabad in which nearly 200 people are participating.

The procession is still on its traditional route, while participants have thrown caution to the wind and are largely not following the government-issued SOPs. No arrests have been made so far.

The Balochistan home department had decided to ban all religious processions earlier this week after which the Balochistan Shia Ulema Conference had agreed not to hold a procession.
