LONDON, Sept 6: England fast bowler Simon Jones was ruled out on Tuesday of the fifth and final Ashes Test against Australia at The Oval starting Thursday after failing a fitness test at Lord’s.

The 26-year-old paceman, who sustained a right ankle injury during England’s fourth Test victory, tried running round the Lord’s outfield on Tuesday under the supervision of England physiotherapist Kirk Russell but felt too much discomfort.—AFP
