Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani has said that schools in the province will not be opened from June 1, as opposed to the provincial government's earlier announcements.

In a press conference, he said that the federal government's decision to promote students of Grades 9-12 had some complications, which were also acknowledged by the Centre.

He pointed out that the law pertaining to board exams do not allow the promotion of students who have not appeared. In order to do so, the law will have to be amended. Ghani said that a committee has been formed to ponder over the issue and its recommendations will be passed on to the federal government.
