JI candidates for seven towns

GUJRANWALA, Sept 6: The Jamaat-i-Islami has announced its candidates for seven town nazims of the district and directed them to start their campaign for the third phase of local polls.

This was stated by JI district president Bilal Qudrat while speaking at a news conference here on Tuesday.

He said Navidul Hasan had been nominated for Aroop town, Sheikh Awais Ayub for Nandipur town, Muhammad Saleem Butt for Khiali town, Ramzan Hasan for Qila Dedar Singh town, Nasir Mahmood for Wazirabad town, Rana Shahid Iqbal for Naushera Virkan town and Abdul Hamid Goraya for Kamoki town.

Mr Qudrat said Punjab JI Amir Hafiz Liaquat Baloch had nominated these candidates.

TRAFFIC POLICE: The traffic police claimed to have issued 16,264 challan tickets, besides impounding 1,578 vehicles on charges of violation during August and recovered Rs2.5 million fine from them.

This was stated by traffic SP Asghar Saeed Paul at a briefing here on Tuesday.

He said three DSPs Najeem Akram Man, Noor Husain Shah and Muhammad Nadeem Butt had been deputed for revamping traffic in and around the city.
