LAHORE, Jan 17: The Punjab Bar Council tribunal headed by Mr Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry of the Lahore High Court has cancelled the licences of two lawyers and suspended the licence of a third for misconduct.
The licence of Zahid Farooq was cancelled for getting himself enrolled on the basis of a fake law degree. A case was also registered against him with the Old Anarkali police with a direction that the investigations be completed within a month.
The licence of Chaudhry Abdul Ghani was cancelled for his failure to appear before the tribunal to answer the charges levelled against him being afforded a number of opportunities.
The licence of advocate Abdul Qayyum Qureshi was suspended for his failure to honour his promise to return the money paid by some complainants.
Chaudhry Muhammad Siddiq Baqir of Haroonabad paid Rs35,000 to a complainant after the latter made a sworn statement on Holy Quran. — Reporter
