KARACHI, Sept 4: The Sindh Minister for Information Technology, Syed Mustafa Kamal, said that due to improved law and order situation, a large number of people were visiting Karachi and taking part in different events without any fear.
This he said, while speaking at a ceremony organized by the All Karachi Pigeon Welfare Association (AKPWA), to distribute prizes among winners of Pigeon Flying Tournament, held in the year 2004 and 2005 in Karachi.
The minister lauded the efforts of the AKPWA for holding such a tournament.
Later, he distributed cheques for Rs2,000 each to 25 needy people, sewing machines, tri-cycles arranged by AKPWA, among widows and disabled.
Mr Kamal also distributed trophies to the winners of the Pigeon Flying Tournament.
The tournament was organized in summer and winter in 2004 and 2005 in Karachi and a large number of people participated in the tournament.
Sajid Jameel and Zafar Ahmed Shaikh were given winning trophies while Bagheet Atiq al Roomesi was given the “best coach award”.
Colour televisions, washing machines, dinner sets, tape recorders and other different prizes were also distributed among different participants on best performances in different categories of the said tournament.—APP
