RAWALPINDI, Jan 17: The Rawalpindi police on Thursday booked 17 men on the charge of gambling.

The Waris Khan police said these men were caught gambling on a horse race that was being relayed live from some foreign television station. The police had raided the house at the Shah Tuition Centre on a tip-off.

As many as Rs30,000 of stake money as well as wrist watches, mobile phone sets and the TV set were also seized by the police.

Cases have been registered against the accused under the Islamic law.—PPI
