THE number of Covid-19 cases and related deaths continue to increase at an alarming rate all over the world. However, the people have been given a gift that they lacked previously; time.
As we sit at home with fewer responsibilities, we find ourselves reconnecting with our families, spending time in nature, and appreciating the little things that we took for granted. The coronavirus may be devouring our physical bodies, but to date –and hopefully this remains true for the future as well-- it has not dented the human spirit.
The world has become a kinder place as people and institutions donate cash, medical supplies and material so the less fortunate have a chance to stay safe in the pandemic. As each person finds him or herself unsure of what tomorrow holds, they have gained a better understanding of the struggles of others. We may be six feet apart in physical distance, but Covid-19 has brought individuals, communities and society closer to each other and Nature.
May this positive environmental impact remain long after Covid-19 turns into a bad memory!
