LAHORE, Sept 3: City District Government Caretaker District Coordination Officer Khalid Sultan has ordered a crackdown on sub-standard engine oil business in Badami Bagh and winding up of 256 shops in this connection within a week.
Presiding over a meeting held here on Saturday to finalize the arrangements for launching a campaign against the drivers of smoky motor-vehicles in the city district from Monday, he said 256 unlicensed shops identified by SP (Security) were involved in preparation and marketing of sub-standard mobil oil.
He said the use of sub-standard mobil oil was one of the main cause of emission of smoke by the motor-vehicles.
The DCO directed the town municipal officers, district officer (environment) and labour and civil defence officer to impose on-the-spot fines upto Rs2,000 on the drivers of smoky motor-vehicles during the campaign being launched to control environmental pollution.
The meeting was also attended by district regional transport authority secretary, district officers for solid waste management, labour, workshop, traffic police officials, and representatives of oil companies and rickshaw drivers’ unions.
