A group of researchers in Italy has concluded that eye fluids from coronavirus patients may be a "potential source of infection" after a woman was found to have traces of the virus in her eyes for 20 days.

The 65-year-old woman, Italy's first confirmed coronavirus patient had conjunctivitis in both her eyes — considered a symptom of Covid-19.

The researchers discovered that traces of the virus remained in the woman's eyes for 20 days.
