35 Ulema assure cooperation during Ramazan

LAHORE: A delegation of Ulema belonging to various schools of thought called on Governor Chaudhry Sarwar at the Governor House on Saturday and assured him that the 20-point advisory of the government for Ramazan would be implemented in letter and spirit.

In a meeting with over 35 Ulema, including Pakistan Ulema Council chairman Maulana Tahir Ashrafi, Wifaqul Madaris chief administrator Maulana Hanif Jalandhry, the governor said the government did not want to close down mosques and seminaries at any cost but precautionary measures against the coronavirus had become inevitable. He said the Ulema had an exemplary role to play in fighting out the pandemic.

“We all jointly have to defeat the coronavirus to protect the Pakistanis as well as poor from hunger,” he said.

He said the coronavirus situation was aggravating and it was need of the hour that Ulema and all other segments of society fulfilled their responsibility. He said the government had earlier taken the Ulema on board while deciding about the routine in mosques and seminaries and it would continue taking them along to resolve religious issues.

“The Ulema should show seriousness and form committees at mosque level for implementation on 20-point policy of the government during Ramazanul Mubarak so that faithful would not face any difficulty while performing the prayers.”

The Ulema assured the governor of their cooperation regarding 20-point advisory of the government.
