PESHAWAR: Provincial Minister for Health Taimur Saleem Jhagra visited different hospitals to encourage the health workers engaged in management of Covid-19 patients in the province.
The pandemic has infected 560 people in the province so far. The minister visited Lady Reading Hospital on Thursday where he appreciated the healthcare providers for their dedication and hard work.
On Wednesday night, he proceeded to Khyber Medical University and praised the performance of the staff at Public Health Reference Laboratory (PHRL). He said that the staffers performing duty on frontline to deal with the outbreak of coronavirus were not only source of pride for the nation, but they were role models and real heroes of the society.
A day before, he visited Khyber Teaching Hospital and Hayatabad Medical Complex where he expressed similar views regarding the performance of the staff.
The province has recorded 20 deaths of Covid-19 patients but 122 have also recovered. There are reports that scores of doctors, nurses and paramedics have got infected but there is no sign of scare among them as they continue to serve the patients, due to which they are drawing appreciation not only from the minister but also from Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.
Minister Taimur Jhagra has been telling the health staffers said that Covid-19 outbreak was a major challenge for the entire nation and provincial government was struggling hard to cope with it.
The doctors also see the minister’s visits to the hospitals as encouraging at a time when all the health facilities stay closed for other patients and the whole attention has been focused on Covid-19.
