Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation Dr Sania Nishtar has highlighted the salient features of the Ehsaas Emergency Cash Programme under which Rs144 billion will be disbursed to the poor.

She said:

• This is the largest financial assistance programme in Pakistan
• It is fully automated and digital. There is no human or political interference
• Biometric verification is a must
• It is extremely transparent
• It is a national security programme
