LAHORE, Aug 30: A top official of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) met Ijaz Butt, the former president of Punjab Cricket Association, on Tuesday in a bid resolve the ongoing dispute over breaking of PCA offices’ locks.

“Abbas Zaidi, PCB director operations, visited me this morning. I laid down certain ‘conditions’ to resolve the issue of locks first after which we will move ahead to settle financial problems,” the former Test player told Dawn.

However, Ijaz refused to disclose the details of those conditions but warned that if the PCB did not take necessary action he would seek legal recourse.

The PCB after dissolving all the four provincial cricket associations in February last year could not settle financial issues with the PCA.

The board recently wrote a letter to the defunct PCA informing it that it had taken possession of the PCA offices situated in the Qadhafi Stadium.

The PCB also asked Ijaz to check the list of articles recovered from the association’s offices and to settle accounts.

The board claimed that the PCA had to account for a grant amounting to Rs5.3 million, while the PCA countered that total amount it received was more than Rs5.3 million and surprisingly, the PCB did not know about the exact figure.

He disclosed that the board would reply about the conditions after discussing with the PCB chairman.
