MIRPURKHAS, Aug 30: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said that the victory of Khushhal Pakistan Panel (KPP) candidates in the first and the second phase of local government elections would ensure success of KPP-backed district nazims in 20 districts adding that the number may increase after adjustments with different groups.

He was talking to local journalists on Tuesday at circuit house.

He said that Mohammad Hassan Laghari has been nominated as candidate for taluka nazim Jhuddo.

He, however, said that Zulfikar Junejo, Sarfaraz Junejo and Zahid Hussain Mari would take decisions for nazims of taluka Sindhri and Hussain Bux Mari whereas Rais Khair Muhammad Bhurgari would decide candidate for Kot Ghulam Mohammad taluka.

For Mirpurkhas taluka, he said, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-backed Haq Parast Group would be consulted.

He said that Asad Junejo and Fiza Junejo had not contacted him for the district nazim slot but names of Mumtaz Ali Shah, Kishan Chand Parwani, Saeed Qureshi, Zahid Mari and Jameel Bhurgari were under consideration for the post following contacts by a group of PPP with PML.

However, he said, he would decide the candidate for zila nazim Mirpurkhas after consulting MQM and PML-F. He said that Mumtaz Ali Shah and Irfan Ali Shah, sons of People’s Party Parliamentarians MNA Syed Qurban Ali Shah have joined PML and sympathies of their father were with the government.

He said that government-backed candidates, and coalition partners have emerged victorious in large numbers in Sindh

SEMINAR: Sindh Chief minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has urged the newly-elected representatives to prepare development schemes for their areas which had been neglected in the past four years due to lack of proper drainage and sanitation system.

He said that the government had given huge funds to district governments but they could not be properly utilized.

He was speaking at a training workshop of the newly-elected nazim/naib nazim and councillors at the circuit house. It was attended by MNA Arbab Zakaullah, PPP MNA Syed Qurban Ali Shah and others.
