FAISALABAD, Aug 30: The candidates for nazims and naib nazims of the City District Government Faisalabad and all its towns have adopted a novel strategy for electioneering and offering lucrative packages to win support of their voters.

Information gleaned by this correspondent revealed on Tuesday that the candidates for the top slots of the towns and city district were visiting the houses of elected nazims and councillors and offering them motorcycles and cell phone sets.

The candidates for the third phase of the local polls were seen throwing lavish parties. Some of the aspirants have hired the services of young female staff for visiting the houses of elected councillors to muster their support.

A majority of the candidates is launching campaign on the basis of their casts or using the influence of government officials and administrative functionaries.

On the other hand, the opposition-backed nominees have been facing serious problems owing to rift between the party leaders as not a single nomination for this phase of the elections has been made so far.
