Nazim among 40 booked for injuring 15

GUJRANWALA, Aug 29: Around 40 people, including ruling party aspirant for Aroop Town Nazim Navid Anwar Bhinder, were booked on Monday for injuring 15 people of the rival Awan group with firearms in a polling station on Aug 18.

Union Council No 105 nazim Navid Anwar Bhinder, the son of senator Anwar Bhinder, his brother Wasim, State Minister Shahid Akram Bhinder’s brother-in-law Dr Muhammad Aslam along with his supporters had opened fire on rival aspirant Farid Iqbal Awan and his supporters in Nagri Ahmad Shah polling station. As a result, 15 people of the Awan group sustained bullet injuries.

Besides, the polling had also remained suspended for some three hours due to the firing incident. But the police had not registered a case against the Bhinder group and instead booked 35 people of the Awan group.

Later, the victim group approached DPO Arif Mushtaq who ordered registration of the case against the Bhinder group. However, the police have not so far arrested any accused.
