WASHINGTON, Jan 17: The queue of people making new jobless benefit claims dropped last week to the lowest level since July 2001, the government said on Thursday.

The number of fresh claimants fell 14,000 from the previous week to a seasonally adjusted 384,000 in the week ending January 12, the Labour Department said.—AFP
