LAHORE, Aug 27: The man who was among the few to challenge the dictatorship and who had held high the flag of the PML-N even when he was severely tortured, switched loyalty and joined the ruling PML on Saturday.
Haji Imdad Husain, who was once the president of the Lahore organization, called on Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and expressed confidence in his leadership.
His sister Rehana Jamil, a widow MPA, had joined the ruling party long ago.
Provincial PML-N president Zulfikar Khosa said Haji Imdad had consistently been telling Mian Nawaz Sharif that his sister had changed loyalty without his consent and that he would stay with the party through thick and thin.
The chief minister welcomed Haji Imdad’s decision and said it augured well for the ruling party. He said the local government elections showed that the PML had become a strong political force.
Rehana Jamil and Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan were also present at the meeting.
