THATTA, Aug 27: Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Ghulam Rahim has said the general public in Sindh has reposed confidence in the government by massively electing the groups and panels affiliated with PML and its allies and his party will protect the interests of the province.

Responding to query by the reporters at police line Makli after completion of a ‘tableeghi’ (preaching) congregation at police mosque here on Saturday afternoon, the chief minister contended that the major opposition party, the PPP, had been in practice to misguide the masses on being defeated by terming the polls as unfair and rigged.

He warned that if the PPP launched any “jail bharo” tehrik in context of polls, it will be responsible for its deeds, adding that the provincial government was having enough resources not to get materialize the wishes of its opponents by keeping them behind the bars.

Arbab Rahim said, the PPP leaders should honourably accept defeat realising the facts that the people of Sindh had been exhausted of the shallow and hollow slogans of its party leaders, hence acting democratically, they should better let the system run.

The people in Sindh want development, prosperity and a better future, he added.

Responding a question on water issue, Arbab Rahim said the head of water committee, Mr A.N.G.Abbasi was a non-controversial expert, who commands respect.

About NFC award, the chief minister said President General Pervez Musharraf was a man of political wisdom and Sindh would definitely get its legitimate share in NFC award.
