24 election tribunals formed for NWFP

ISLAMABAD, Aug 27: Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar has appointed 24 tribunals in the NWFP to dispose of election petitions. The tribunals have been appointed to receive, try and dispose of petitions related to local level elections in union councils of the province.

The CEC has appointed the tribunals in exercise of powers under the Local Government Elections Order, 2000 (No. 8 of 2000), section 150(2) of the NWFP Local Government Ordinance, 2001, read with rule 64 of the NWFP Local Government (Conduct of Elections) Rules 2005 and all other powers enabling him in this behalf.

Under the fresh order, district and sessions judge Peshawar has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Nowshera district and district and sessions judge, Charsadda, for all union councils of Peshawar district.

District and sessions judge, Nowshera, has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Charsadda district and district and sessions judge, Swabi, for all union councils of Mardan district.

District and sessions judge, Mardan, has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Swabi district and district and sessions judge, Hangu, for all union councils of Kohat district.

District and sessions judge, Kohat, has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Hangu district and additional district and sessions judge, Kohat, for all union councils of Abbottabad district.

District and sessions judge, Haripur, has been named election tribunal for all union councils of Haripur district and district and sessions judge, Abbottabad, for all union councils of Haripur district.

Additional district and sessions Judge-I Abbottabad has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Battagram district and district sessions judge, Mansehra, for all union councils of Mansehra district.

District and sessions judge, Battagram, has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Kohistan district and district and sessions judge, Tank, for all union councils of D.I. Khan district.

District and sessions judge, D.I. Khan, has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Tank district and district and sessions judge, Lakki Marwat, for all union councils of Bannu district.

District and sessions judge, Bannu, has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Lakki Marwat district and district and sessions judge, MPA has been appointed election tribunal for all union councils of Swat district.

District and sessions judge, Swat, has been election tribunal for all union councils of MPA district and district and sessions judge, Buner, for all union councils of Shangla district.
