Lobby against PML nominee

SARGODHA, Aug 25: The nomination of Chaudhry Anwar Ali Cheema for the district nazim slot has created ‘unrest’ amongst anti-Cheema groups and they are trying to convince the chief minister that it will erode the unity of the party.

The Piracha family is reportedly wooing all groups to unite the anti-Cheema forces on one platform. The Piracha group seems to be very confident of its nomination by the highups.

Meanwhile, Mian Mazhar Ahmed Qureshi and Klayar group have criticized the nomination of Mr Cheema and claimed that it was not made by the Punjab chief minister.

Though some ruling party leaders, who had attended a meeting at Qasre Sultan here, said that their support was subject to CM’s approval. The statement considerably affected the position of Mr.Cheema whose graph had went up a day after the announcement. Even MPA Mukhtar Bhirth of the PML-N had also expressed his pleasure over the nomination of Mr.Cheema, saying that he was the most suitable person.

Some close circles of Mr.Cheema told Dawn that the announcement had been made after getting a green signal from the Chaudhrys.

“Mr Cheema is well-known for his development works and that is why people call him Shahenshah-e-Tameerat (king of construction).”

However, the position will be clear on Aug 26 as the anti-Cheema groups are meeting the chief minister, they said. — Correspondent
