Zehri acquitted in murder case

KHUZDAR: Former Balochistan chief minister Nawab Sanaullah Zarakzai Zehri, his younger brother Nawabzada Mir Naimatullah Zarakzai Zehri and brother-in-law Agha Shakeel Ahmed Durrani were acquitted in a murder case on Tuesday.

They were accused of killing tribal elder and central leader of Balochistan National Party-Mengal Nawab Amanullah Khan Zarakzai, his grandson and two security guards between the night of August 16 and 17 last year.

The deceased were killed in an ambush when they were returning home after attending a dinner party in Khuzdar.

The widow of Nawab Amanullah Khan Zarakzai had nominated Nawab Sanaullah Zarakzai Zehri, his brother and bother-in-law and 12 others as accused in the murder case of her husband, grandson and security guards.

Khuzdar District and Sessions Judge Jan Mohammad Gohar, after hearing arguments from the prosecution and defence sides, acquitted Nawab Sanaullah Zehri, his bother and bother-in-law as precaution failed to submit solid evidence against them.

Barrister Ali Ahmed Zehri, who represented Nawab Sanaullah Zehri and others in the case, had moved an application before the sessions court under Section 265-k of the Criminal Procedure Code praying for acquittal of his clients.
