ISLAMABAD, Aug 23: Zainab Khan defeated Mehak Khokhar on Tuesday to claim the Freedom Cup Juniors tennis girls under-17 crown at the PTF Complex.

Executing her strokes well, Zainab scored a 6-3, 6-0 victory to land the title.

In the boys under-17 category, Tanveer Ashiq and Omer Babar scored contrasting victories to enter the semifinals.

While Tanveer outplayed and outclassed Abbas Raza 6-0, 6-0, Omer dropped a set before recovering to score a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 victory over Usman Ijaz.

Also winning the quarterfinals were Yasir Khan, a 4-6, 6-1, 6-1 winner against Danish Ahmed and Khurrum Nazir who defeated Abid Ali 6-3, 6-4.

In the boys under-13 competition, Yousuf Ajam and Farhan Shahid qualified for the final.

Yousuf earned walkover against Zohair Raza while Farhan beat Zahid Ajam 2-4, 4-1, 4-1.
