PML support for various candidates

LAHORE, Aug 23: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi announced on Tuesday the PML support for various candidates to the seats of district and tehsil nazim. He announced the support after meetings with the candidates who were accompanied by communication minister Chaudhry Zaheeruddin and transport minister Rana Shamshad Ahmad.

The candidates for the slots of district nazim were Sardar Ghulam Abbas (Chakwal), Ghulam Haider Thind (Layyah) and Umair Hayat Khan Rokhri (Mianwali).

The candidates to the seats of tehsil nazim were Raja Mohammad Adnan Tariq Ali (Jinnah Town, Faisalabad), Sajjad Ahmad Khan (Kamoke Town), Rizwan Zafar Cheema (Nandipur Town), Sardar Mohammad Ibad Dogar (Muzaffargarh tehsil) and Chaudhry Mohammad Tufail (Chichawatni tehsil).

The chief minister said these were the best candidates, and hoped that they would serve the people of their constituencies after their election.

Talking to MNAs and MPAs from Sahiwal who called on him, the chief minister said the assembly members had been consulted in political, development and local government affairs. He said all backward areas were being developed under a coordinated and effective planning.

He said after the completion of the elections, the local body system would become more effective with regard to the resolution of people’s problems. He said the landslide victory of the PML-supported candidates reflected people’s confidence into the reform agenda of the government.

He said all resources had been diverted towards development of the province. The backward and neglected areas were being given an equal opportunity of progress.
