HYDERABAD: Sindh Minister for Education Saeed Ghani has said that the federal government met out step-motherly attitude to Sindh over the issue of the inspector general of police (IGP) transfer.
The present IGP mocked the Sindh government and hatched conspiracies against its elected representatives while the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) gloated over the provincial government’s helplessness.
Speaking on the sidelines of Sindh Livestock Expo 2020 here on Sunday, he said the matter of the Sindh IGP was discussed in detail while constitutional consultation also took place on the transfer and posting of that only IGP Sindh.
He said that five IGPs were changed in Punjab, but no IGP approached the court of law and delivered speeches. He said Sindh was facing step-motherly attitude adopted by the federal government. He said the PTI government was enjoying the situation while doing nothing.
He said that the Centre was introducing a wrong trend while it was written in the law that both the federal and provincial governments would consult about it.
“If the prime minister writes this in the law that no objection certificate (NOC) of opposition parties is required and consultation of both federal and provincial government is not enough, then efforts would be made to get the NOC from the opposition,” he said.
Answering about the death penalty bill presented in the National Assembly to sentence a convict in child abuse cases, he said that when Gen Pervez Musharraf was awarded death, people slammed it and now the same people were demanding the death penalty.
He said that awarding death sentence was not a solution to control crime, but strong prosecution must take place and every criminals must be awarded sentence as per the law.
