Woman killed in gas leak fire

RAWALPINDI: A woman was killed in a fire caused by a gas-leak in her house at Lunda Bazaar road on Thursday.

Parveen Noor, 60, was on her bed when the fire erupted at 2:15am.

In an attempt to escape, the woman collapsed and was burnt to death.

Rescue 1122 staff reached the scene to extinguish the fire.

The deceased was shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

According to emergency services, the fire erupted due to gas leakage from a heater.

Meanwhile, a shopkeeper was shot and injured during a robbery in Morgah on Wednesday night.

Two armed men entered the shop and tried to rob Azhar Satti.

When he tried to overpower the culprits, he was shot at.

The injured was shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital where his condition was stated to be critical.

In another incident, gunmen riding a bike snatched gold jewellery and Rs50,000 from a woman in Racecourse area.

Chaudhry Mohammad Iqbal lodged a complaint with Waris Khan police that two robbers looted Rs20,000 along with a CCTV camera from his shop.

Four robbers looted Rs35,000 and prize bonds worth Rs300,000 from the house of Mohammad Imran at Gulzar-i-Quaid.
