Asad blasts century for BMU

KARACHI, Aug 19: Asad Bashir slammed a match winning hundred to put Baqai Medical University’s (BMU) in the final of Inter-university cricket championship with a thumping 88 run success over Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology (SSUET) at PCB Regional Academy ground on Friday.

Right handed Asad cracked seven four and four sixesin his 115 off 120 balls and Muhammad Imran blasted 65 to power BMU to 273 for seven wickets in 50 overs. The pair added 121 runs for the fifth wicket.

SSUET in reply were dismissed for 185 in 40.3 overs. Pacer Muhammad Imran snapped-up three wickets for 33 runs in eight overs following his fine half century.

BMU ended the six-team league with four wins from five matches. NED were already assured of the berth in the final with five straight wins.

In the other match at KCCA Stadium, Federal Urdu University (FUU) defeated Institute of Business Administration (IBA) thanks to a match-winning 97 by Abu Zafar.
