Re-election ordered in six poll stations

HYDERABAD, Aug 19: DRO Zaheeruddin S. Leghari of the newly-created Tando Allahyar district has ordered fresh election for six polling stations of two UCs of Tando Allahyar city taluka on Aug 25.

According to the divisional election commissioner, Ameer Bux Abbasi, the order for re-polling was issued in the wake of complaints received from returning officer of UC-1 to 4 of Tando Allahyar city taluka.

The polling stations where fresh polls will be held on August 25 are: PS no 3, 8, 9 of UC-2 and PS 1, 2 and 8 of UC-4.

Hussain Shah and Mitho Mir Jatt were elected as nazim and naib nazim in UC-2 as joint candidates of Haq Parast Group (HPG) and Azad Magsi Ittehad (AMI).

HPG and AMI backed Faizaul Haq Sabir Qaimkhani had returned unopposed at the time of filing of candidatures in UC IV as Nazim.

Elections for seats of councillors were held on Thursday in this UC.

On August 18, when elections were held in Tando Allahyar, polling remained suspended UC 2 at PS No 1, set up in government Urdu primary school ward-B after unidentified persons took away ballots of different categories of councillors.

The information was given by the presiding officer, Dr Arjun Kumar to DRO and DCO Tando Allahyar.

Disturbances were also reported in other above-mentioned polling stations by candidates and polling agents of Awam Dost Panel (ADP).

In UC-2 ADP had fielded two separate panel and candidates against pro-government contestants.
