Rally planned against flour crisis

PESHAWAR: Pakhtunkhwa Jamhoori Ittehad, an alliance of nationalist political parties, will hold a rally on January 24 at Khyber Bazaar against price hike and the prevailing flour crisis in the province.

According to a statement, a meeting of PJI was held to discuss the prevailing political situation in the country. The participants of the meeting lauded the political parties that had opposed amendment to the Army Act.

The alliance decided that it would also consider becoming a party to the petition, which was submitted by Pakistan Bar Council to challenge the amendment to the Act.

The meeting was presided over by convener of the alliance Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao and attended by Mukhtar Bacha and Dr Sarfaraz of National Party, Gul Haider Khan and Shakil Waheedullah Khan of Mazdoor Kissan Party, Akhunzada Haider Zaman of Awami Workers Party and Syed Majid Jan of Pakhtunkhwa Olasi Tehreek and others.

The participants of the meeting decided to stage a rally from Khyber Bazaar to Peshawar Press Club on January 24 at around 2pm to register protest against price hike and the prevailing flour crisis in the province.

They said that a function would also be held at Nishtar Hall on January 26 at around 2pm to mark the death anniversary of Kakaji Sanobar Hussain Momand.

The participants of the meeting said that the alliance would hold seminars in Lahore, Peshawar and Islamabad to highlight the importance of the supremacy of the parliament and make the people understand the difference between the national security state and social welfare state.
