ISLAMABAD, Aug 18: Federal Minister for Tourism Dr G G Jamal on Thursday said his ministry in collaboration with the private sector would participate in JATA World Travel Fair-2005 to be held in Japan.
He stated this while presiding over a meeting held to discuss preparations for the event. The meeting was attended by Tourism Secretary Salim Gul Sheikh, Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation’s managing director and representatives of hotels, travel agencies and other private firms.
The minister said best tourist destinations in Pakistan should be projected during the event. He called for making the most of the opportunity because Pakistan had great importance as a tourist destination for the people of the host country due to the remains of Gandhara and Indus valley civilizations.
The meeting was told that JATA World Congress and Travel Fair Tokyo was being held from September 22 to 24. In 2004, over 770 private sector organizations, representing 108 countries, took part in the fair, and over 100,000 people attended the event daily.
