CEC visits polling stations in Karachi

KARACHI, AUG 18: Acting Chief Election Commissioner Justice Abdul Hameed Dogar said on Thursday that the voters’ turnout was more than 50 per cent in most parts of the country.

Talking to newsmen during his visit to a polling station at Custom Public School, he said: “I have come from Multan where turnout was more than 50 per cent. Similarly, reports from other parts of the country show that the turnout was high.”

He expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements at polling stations. He made inquiries from polling staff about the supply of stationery and other material and security arrangements. They expressed satisfaction over the security arrangements.

Justice Dogar was told that the turnout was slow at the polling station.

He also asked the polling agents if they faced any problems during the polling. The agents thanked the acting Chief Election Commissioner for effective security arrangements at the polling stations.

The chief election commissioner also visited polling stations at Karachi Public School, NJV Mama Parsi School and Aga Khan School in Federal B Area.

Sindh Chief Secretary Fazlur Rehman, police chief Asad Jahangir and provincial Election Commissioner Ahmed Ali Halepoto accompanied the acting Chief Election Commissioner.—APP
