ISLAMABAD: The Loi Bher police have booked a former president of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and seven others on the charge of land grabbing and attempted murder, sources told Dawn.
Shoaib Ali, a resident of Ladhiot, in his complaint to the police said some people armed with weapons, including SMG, reached their land in the village with bulldozers.
The complainant asked them to first get the land demarcated as he and his relatives also owned land in the same locality.
However, the armed men ignored the request and shortly a scuffle broke out during which the gunmen opened fire on the complainant and his relatives. As a result, a brother of the complainant suffered a bullet injury to his jaw, said the FIR.
The gunmen then escaped, threatening the complaint with dire consequences. The FIR said the incident took place with the consent of the former AJK president with a motive to grab the land.
A police officer told Dawn that the complainant and the former president had a claim on the land.
