KHAR: The tehsil municipal administration (TMA) launched its services in Khar tehsil of Bajaur tribal district on Friday.
Talking to mediapersons, deputy commissioner Usman Mehsud said that the newly-established TMA had started its services by disposing of garbage and other waste from Nawi Dand, a residential area near Khar town.
He said that initially TMAs were being established in Khar and Nawagai towns.
He said that two tehsil municipal officers had arrived here a few days ago.
He said that some vehicles and other equipment required for the TMA’s services had also reached the town.
He said that Bajaur would be the first of the merged tribal districts to establish TMAs. He said that the people would now get civic facilities.
Mr Mehsud said that Rescue 1122 services and excise and taxation facilitation centres had also been provided in the region. He said that the people of Bajaur would soon see a visible improvement in their lives after completion of the ongoing projects.
Meanwhile, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government formally extended services of the excise and taxation department to the Bajaur tribal district after establishing the excise and taxation office here.
Director General Excise and Taxation Syed Fayaz Ali Shah inaugurated the office at a ceremony held for the purpose in Civil Colony here the other day.
Senior officials of the excise and taxation department, additional deputy commissioner Mehmood Ahmad and district police officer Pir Shahab Ali Shah attended the inauguration ceremony of the facilitation centre, the first such facility in the merged district.
Talking to mediapersons after inaugurating the centre, the director general said that the establishment of excise and taxation office was part of the government’s policy to facilitate the people of merged areas in registration of their vehicles; issuance of number plates and depositing other charges in their native areas.
He said that his department had fixed nominal charges for vehicles’ registration in the merged districts.
