PESHAWAR, Aug 15: Afghan refugees living in the Kurrum agency camp started leaving for their homeland on Monday. Commissioner Afghan refugees Sahibzada Anis said around 340 Afghans had returned to Afghanistan on the first day.
He said notices had been issued to 80,000 refugees of the camps in Kurrum and Bajaur agencies to leave the country by August 31. Sahibzada Anis said the refugees had sent a ‘jirga’ to Afghanistan to discuss their repatriation with the Afghan government. The repatriation from the Bajaur camp would also start after return of the jirga from Afghanistan, he added.—APP
