Shangla jirga demands basic amenities

SHANGLA: The participants of a jirga in Ranzra area of Chakesar tehsil demanded of the government to resolve their problems and provide basic amenities to them.

More than 100 local elders attended the jirga to discuss multiple issues being faced by the residents of the area.

Addressing the jirga, Anwarul Haq, a local elder, said that local people took their patients to hospital in bed as there was no road in the area. He said that many patients died while being shifted to hospital owing to absence of road.

Saeedullah, another elder, said that there was no primary school in the area having a population of 3,000. He said the area was ignored for long.

Mohammad Tahir said that government should provide fundamental rights to them like residents of other areas. He said that they were united to seek their basic rights.

Fazl Mabood, a social activist, said that lawmakers should visit the under developed area. He demanded of the minister for environment and forests to cooperate with them in getting no objection certificate for cutting trees so that they could start work on constructing a road.

He said that Pir Sar, which was declared a tourist resort by the tourism department, was situated near Ranzra. He said that government should also included Ranzra in the project.

The jirga demanded of the government to resolve their issues by allocating funds for the area in development projects.

KILLED: A daily wager was allegedly shot dead by a local man in Opal area in the limits of Chakesar police station on Sunday night.

According to SHO Habib Shah, the daily wager, Mohammad Ali, was shot dead by Sardar Hussain after a scuffle over sand supply. He said that Sardar Hussain, Shah Hussain and Sarwar were arrested soon after the incident. He said that police seized from them the pistol used in the crime and registered a case under against them.
