Fruit, vegetable app to be launched

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will launch an app to facilitate the people to buy fruits and vegetables online at the officially-approved rates, said an official.

He told Dawn that the decision was made at a meeting last week, which was chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan.

The senior official said the ‘Drusut Daam’ app would be launched with a view to fighting the price hike. He said the app had already been used by the Islamabad district administration.

The official said the online market places would help the consumers book orders online and have their consignments delivered at their homes.

The official said the model would be tried in Peshawar, Mardan, Abbottabad and Dera Ismail Khan. He said the contract for building the app would be awarded this month and the online markets were likely to start functioning by January next year.
