QUETTA, Aug 12: The Pakistan Railways and Quetta district government have decided to remove all encroachments on the railway land near an under-construction flyover.

The decision was taken at a joint meeting of the divisional superintendent of Pakistan Railways, Quetta division, and the caretaker administrator of Quetta city district government here on Thursday.

The meeting observed that shop owners had established illegal encroachments all the way from the Sariab railway crossing up to the Chaman railway crossing as a result of which the construction of the flyover was being affected.

It was decided in the meeting that a drive against illegal encroachments would be launched soon to remove all hurdles in the way of implementing the road expansion programme and constructing the flyover.

It was also decided that shop owners who had established illegal encroachments would be issued notices for their removal.

The meeting further decided that strict legal action would also be taken against those shop owners who would not remove illegal encroachments within the time given to them.

It was decided that all steps would be taken for the construction of the flyover and link roads so that the people could be provided this facility as soon as possible.

Later, the caretaker administrator and district coordination officer, Quetta city government, Rao Shakeel Ahmed, and Superintendent of Railways police Malik Naeem Kakar inspected the construction work on the flyover and expansion of roads in the area.
