QUETTA, Aug 12: A three-day national paediatric conference began here on Friday. The conference is being attended by over 300 doctors and experts from all over the country and abroad.
Balochistan Chief Secretary K. B. Rind inaugurated the opening session of the conference which has been organized by the Balochistan chapter of the Pakistan Paediatric Association.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that provision of proper food, education and healthcare to children was the joint responsibility of parents, society and government.
He underlined the need for creating awareness among people of remote areas of the province about the health of the mother and child and providing basic knowledge to women about diseases children usually suffered from and care of pregnant women.
Mr Rind said that the government gave priority to maternal and neonatal health and it was making efforts to establish health facilities in remote areas of the province.
He assured the participants that the government would pay attention to practicable recommendations made by the conference.
