MIANWALI, Aug 10: Doctors on the call given by the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) observed a complete strike on Wednesday against registration of a case against their colleague whose negligence took the life of a baby boy.
Paediatrician Dr Khurshid Khan has reportedly gave a wrong injection to Hanzala Shah, the son of Shoaib Shah, resident of Mochh, which caused his death.
The grieved father first time raised voice against the doctor’s casual and cruel treatment. An inquiry ordered by the EDO (health) declared Dr Khurshid innocent. But a judicial inquiry held the doctor responsible for the child’s death and the district and sessions judge ordered registration of a case.
The protesting doctors said a case could be registered after a post-mortem examination of the body but police did not meet the legal requirement. The doctor, however, has not yet been arrested.
Meanwhile, people protested against the doctors’ attitude and, instead of sympathising with them, called them ‘butchers and money mongers.’
