TOBA TEK SINGH, Aug 10: Cases were registered against district PPP president and former MNA Haji Ishaq and 171 others on Wednesday for taking out an illegal procession in Gojra.

According to Gojra city police, Haji Ishaq, Gojra Market Committee former chairman Asad Zaman Cheema, candidates for nazim and naib nazim offices Rana Bashir Ahmad and Anjum Ishaq and city PPP office-bearers Mahboob Chitta and Zulqurnain and their 165 supporters took out election rallies on different roads of the town.

Nomination papers of both nazim and naib nazim slot candidates were rejected by the returning officer while their appeal against the decision was also rejected by the district returning officer.

They moved Lahore High Court which allowed both of them on Tuesday to contest election. When both candidates arrived here from Lahore on Tuesday night they were brought into their constituency in a procession. No arrest has so far been made.

CASH SNATCHED: Naeem of Faisalabad was deprived of Rs125,000 in cash by two motorcyclists near Noor Park where he had gone to see his relatives on Wednesday.
