KARACHI: Jeay Sindh Qaumi Mahaz took out a rally near Karachi Press Club on Sunday to protest against ‘conspiracies for dividing Sindh’ and federation’s dominance on Sindh’s resources.

The “Paigham-i-Sindh” rally led by the party chairman Sanan Qureshi demanded opening a Kartarpur-like corridor in Sindh as well. “We demand the government open corridors for the Sindhi Hindus in India who want to visit their revered shrines in Sindh,” said Mr Qureshi while addressing the gathering. The participants in the rally had arrived from across the province.

He said the rally carried a message of love for everyone living in Sindh but “it does not mean that we’ll allow anyone to divide our land. We’ll not allow this at any cost”.

He said the increasing unemployment and corruption in education sector had done irreparable damage to Sindh. The JSQM’s rally condemned frequent incidents of harassment of female students in educational institutions in Sindh, he said.

He said the female students who were killed by violent elements should be served justice by punishing their killers in an exemplary fashion and called upon Urdu-speaking community not to fall prey to conspiracies by vested interests who exploited ethnic card.

He rejected construction of new dams on Indus and said instead of building reservoirs the federal government should respect universal principle of distribution of water which gave greater share to lower riparian areas.

He said that both the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, which ruled Islamabad, and Pakistan Peoples Party government in Sindh had plundered resources of the province.
