Karachi hit by massive power failure

KARACHI, Aug 9: More than half of Karachi was plunged into darkness when the transmission system of the Karachi Electric Supply Corporation snapped in the early hours of Tuesday. The massive breakdown continued till the afternoon. The city’s water supply was severely affected and industries reported huge losses. According to the KESC, the breakdown had caused a shortage of around 900 megawatts of power supply to the city.
